ABOUT ABOUT

Join us at Kanawha State Forest’s Nature Center as we attempt to make a positive impact on our pollinators, especially the Monarch Butterfly which was recently named an endangered species. All participants will receive a Painted Lady Caterpillar of their own to raise themself, helping scouts learn that bugs aren’t so scary and also learning ways to deter insects we don’t like so much without harming our pollinators.

We will be learning about bugs, specifically pollinators and the Monarch Butterfly, make a butterfly and a caterpillar craft, we will make pollinator garden planter, and all participants will have the opportunity to adopt a Painted Lady caterpillar of their very own to take home and raise (if they want).

Cost of the event is $5.00 for Girl Scouts.  Adults are welcome to attend.  Due to limied space, we will not have room for Tagalongs at this event.

Event will be held at Kanawha State Forest Nature Center.  The address is 7500 Kanawha State Forest Dr, Charleston, WV 25314.
