Journey in a Day - Think Like a Programmer

Join Putnam County Service Unit for Journey in a Day 2019!  Girls will have the chance to learn about about the language of computers and solve problems while they earn their Think Like a Programmer Journey.  Journey in a Day will start with a guest speaker that specializes in programming and then break into groups (by Girl Scout level) to work on age-specific lessons.  Finally, each girl will help with a Take Action Project to help their community understand and appreciate the skills they have learned. 

Registration begins at 9:30am.  Journey in a Day begins promptly at 10am.  Please check in at the registration desk in the Narthex at Forrest Budette.  Check out is at 4pm.  Parents can gather in the Narthex area and Girls will meet you there.  Please make sure you sign your Girl out and pick up her badges at the registration desk before you leave.

Cost of Journey in a Day is $15 and includes Journey badges, lunch, and program supplies. 

Adults who are registered Girl Scouts and have an approved background check on file at council are also able to attend.  Please contact Melanie or Ashley (information below) so they we can place you in a volunteer role.  Volunteers have the option of purchasing lunch for $5 or may bring their own. 

Please note that this is NOT a family event and tagalongs are not permitted. We cannot offer childcare for non-Girl Scouts the day of the event.  

Lunch consists of pizza, chips, and drink.  If you are sending a packed lunch with your girl, please keep in mind that all Putnam Service Unit events are "nut free" events.  Please do not pack anything in your lunch that could be made of or contaminated with tree nuts or peanuts. 

Girls should wear close-toed shoes and wear clothing that is "crafting friendly."  Girls should also bring their vest/sash/tunic and a water bottle.
